Today’s smart-phones struggle to get through a day on one battery charge. What can be done to extend their battery life?
1. Turn Off Bluetooth Bluetooth is continuous sending out a signal when switched on and this uses large quantities of battery power
2. Turn Off Wifi – Wifi also continues polling for Wifi points and if it is connected will poll the connected point all using battery life.
3. Turn off Location Services – Location services are constantly polling for your position
4. Turn off 3G – Yes your phone will still work and the battery will last a good time longer
5. Use a high capacity battery
6. Carry a USB charging cable (smaller and lighter than a charger this can be a life saver and honestly you're never far from a USB port)
7. Turn Vibrate Off
8. Get a timed profile app to turn them off during the night.
9. Close applications that you are not using. The HTC Hero for example can run 10 applications simultaneously and this will eat battery time
10. Turn down screen brightness
11. Turn off auto updates such as weather services
You don’t need to use all of the suggestions above. They will all aid in preserving battery life to some extent and you should start with the points that disable services that you rarely
